Prof. Wang is awarded the SEE Excellent Young Researcher Award 2025 in recognition of prolific contributions and transformative impact in sustainable electrochemical energy research. With 96 influential publications, his work has redefined benchmarks in the field. Notably, with SEE as academic home, he published first-/corresponding-author papers in prestigious journals like Nature Catalysis, Energy & Environmental Science, Chem, Advanced Materials, secured 15 competitive grants as the principal investigator exceeding 15M HKD, and (co)chaired five international conferences. His mentorship catalyzed a postdoctoral researcher’s success in securing the NSFC Excellent Young Scientist Fund (Overseas). His accolades include the 2024 Energy & Fuels Rising Star Award, Senior Visiting Scholar title at Tsinghua University, and top 2% most-cited career scientist worldwide (Since 2023).

The project “High-Performance and Long-Life Anion Exchange Membrane Water Electrolysis: From Material Design to Cell Innovation,” led by Prof. Jian Wang, was awarded over HK$4 million from the RGC. (03/2025)
This project aims to innovate both the electrode materials and cell devices of anion exchange membrane water electrolysis (AEMWE). Through advanced characterization techniques and theoretical calculations, the team will elucidate the mechanisms underlying the modulated performance of these systems. Their collaborative efforts are poised to establish a rational and effective approach for enhancing the performance and longevity of AEMWE, with the ambitious goal of surpassing the performance targets set by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for 2031.
